Tenor and soprano saxophonist Peter Brainin is a Grammy and Latin Grammy winning artist as well as an award-winning composer. Best known for his long-term associations (including recording, festival, club, television and film appearances here and around the globe) with Hilton Ruiz, Chico O’Farrill, Mongo Santamaria, the Afro Latin jazz Orchestra, Joey Calderazzo, Valery Ponomorev, Bebo Valdez, Willie Colon and Legal Alien and Steve Berrios. Peter is also co-leader of the quartet Native Soul and of several adventurous CD recordings with master drummer Steve Johns which feature contributions by Conrad Herwig, Eddie Henderson, Ben Monder and George Cables. This powerful new international quintet of New York’s finest, all of whom have worked closely together for many years in a wide variety of settings, bring an incredible wealth of creativity and experience to expand on the New York “Latin Jazz” tradition. Inspired by artists like Jerry Gonzalez & the Fort Apache Band, the drummers in this group build a fire that envelopes all the music they touch, while the soulful writing and re-interpretaions “in all languages” speak to their love of harmony and of humanity itself!

SETH WEAVER BIG BAND is a 17-piece swing orchestra comprised of some of the most exciting new voices on the jazz scene today. The big band plays classic jazz tunes and original swing music influenced by the writers of Count Basie and Frank Sinatra. The band features both Weaver and Shmulyian on vocals. Come take a step back in time and dance the night away!

 

SETH WEAVER is an exciting new talent on the New York jazz scene as a vocalist, trombonist, bandleader, and composer/arranger. Already in demand, he has performed at many New York venues, including Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Smalls, Rockwood, the Shrine, Zinc Bar, Swing 46, and numerous others. Seth has performed with Ben Folds, Michael Dease, Manhattan Transfer, Jon Hendricks, Dave Liebman, and Peter Eldrige to name a few. Seth leads his own quartet and big band, which perform regularly around New York City. A graduate of the University of North Texas and Manhattan School of Music, Seth received two Downbeat magazine awards for his jazz vocals, was a two-time finalist in the International Trombone Association’s J.J. Johnson Competition, won the Texas State Jazz Trombone Competition, and received an honorable mention in the Carl Fontana Competition. Seth's influences include Frank Sinatra, Kurt Elling, Slide Hampton, J.J. Johnson, Sammy Nestico, and Quincy Jones.

 

SVETLANA SHMULYIAN is an up and coming New York jazz vocalist and band leader who performed and lead bands in sold out shows in such legendary New York venues as BBKings, Zinc Bar, Kitano Jazz, City Winery, Rockwood Music Hall, Barbes, 92 Street Y, and many others. Svetlana has earned acclaim from press and audiences alike, having been called an "energetic vocalist" (Wall Street Journal), "jazz experimentalist" (Broadway World) with the "strong vocals" (Socially Superlative), an "exquisite gift to musical gourmands" (Jewish World), a chanteuse who "gives the audiences a dose of modern jazz vocals" (Time Out NY) with her "fine graceful singing" (JazzLives), who is "in her element when she swings".
