Rodrigo Ursaia


Rodrigo Ursaia, saxophonist, flutist and composer, has made a musical career for himself in his native Brazil, playing and recording with the likes of Rosa Passos, Ivan Lins, Toninho Horta, Grupo Pau Brasil, Nelson Ayres, Banda Mantiqueira and Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica among others. After pursuing his Master’s degree at Manhattan School
of Music in New York (2002), he has been performing with various artists in the New York area, including Dom Salvador, Claudio Roditi, Jovino Santos Neto, Hendrik Meurkens, Hélio Alves, Duduka da Fonseca, Paulo Braga, Santi Debriano, Sandro Albert, Maúcha Adnet, David Berkman, Matt Wilson, Ohad Talmor, Cidinho Teixeira, Maurício Zottarelli and Choro Ensemble.
He has also been recording, touring and performing with the Rosa Passos Quintet in many cities in Europe, Asia and the United States, and in such venues and festivals as the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Umbria Jazz, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Venetto Jazz Festival, Blue Note and Blue Note Milan
