Bill Cantrall draws on the soundsof mid 60’s jazz multi-horn front lines such as Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, the Jazztet, and groups led by pianists Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. The band’s influences are rooted in this tradition, the new compositions and arrangements by Cantrall combined with the group’s spirited performance produce an outcome that still sounds fresh and new.
