About Us.

Step into the world of Zinc, a legendary jazz venue located in the heart of Greenwich Village. For sixteen long years, siblings Alex Kay and Kristina Kossi eagerly awaited their chance to turn the former Club Cinderella space into their own jazz haven. And when the opportunity finally arrived, they leapt at it with open arms.

The Club Cinderella was a beacon of the jazz world in the 1940s. Thelonious Monk tickled the ivories as the house pianist, the legendary Billie Holiday crooned on stage, and even Frank Sinatra made an appearance, rumored to have been smitten by Holiday’s performances. And now, Zinc carries on that legacy with pride.

As soon as you step inside, you’re transported back to a bygone era, with the atmosphere of a classic Bogie gin joint. The zinc-top bar gleams, stocked with vintage decanters and a champagne chiller straight out of a classic movie. The bar area is separated by heavy red velvet curtains, with a two-drink minimum on weekends and a one-drink minimum during the week.

And today it still looks like a Bogie gin joint, with a zinc-top bar stocked with vintage decanters and a classic champagne chiller.

And then there’s the stage area, where the nightly live music draws in jazz aficionados, local old-timers, and NYU students alike. On weekends, the sounds of African and Brazilian bands fill the air, while Thursday nights are reserved for wild-card sets, featuring everything from Latin jazz to cabaret to stand-up comedy.

But the real magic of Zinc lies in the attention to detail. Alex and Kristina have gone to great lengths to preserve the art-deco etched glass behind the bar, commissioning matching sconces to complete the look. And when you’re sipping on a cocktail, served up by the friendly staff, you’ll feel like you’re part of a special club, one where the music and the atmosphere transport you to another time and place.

So come on down to Zinc and experience the magic for yourself. Who knows, you might just catch a glimpse of the ghost of Billie Holiday or Thelonious Monk, still haunting the stage, ready to raise the roof with their incredible music.
