The Bill Warfield Jazz Octet was founded January 11, 1985. The members of this group represent the finest Jazz and studio musicians in the NYC metropolitan area.
The group’s first recording, “New York City Jazz” on Interplay Records, was released in 1990 to much critical acclaim. We have subsequently released “The City Never Sleeps” Seabreeze Records, 1994, “Nomad” with Dave Stryker on Steeplechase in 1995, “A Faceless Place” on Laurel Hill Records in 2005, “Duff’s Blues” with Gene Ludwig on 18th and Vine in 2008 and “Trumpet Story” with Randy Brecker on Planet Arts Network in 2014.
The group has performed in many of the major Jazz Clubs in NYC including Birdland, Blue Note, and Iridium. The group’s focus is on creative projects centering on original compositions and arrangements of standards and classic Jazz compositions.
